Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Occupational Therapist
& Beach Lover

Tamsyn is a registered occupational therapist and completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia. Tamsyn is registered to practise under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), is a member of the Occupational Therapy Association (OTA) and is also a registered Medicare provider.

Tamsyn’s warmness, gentle and playful nature helps her to build therapeutic relationships with clients, supporting progress towards client led goals. She considers a collaborative approach to be fundamental in supporting clients, and is passionate about collaborating with families, teachers and other medical or allied health practitioners. Tamsyn has experience helping clients from the ages of 6 to 25 years old in increasing independence, and extending their skills beyond the therapy space.

Tamsyn’s collaborative approach with clients often looks like coaching, where clients or their caregivers consider their strengths, ideas, and resources, and are supported to translate these skills into other areas. Tamsyn has a strong belief that clients and their families are the experts in their own life, and highly values their own personal life experience as a resource to further support independence and change.

She also acknowledges the importance of repetitive practise and consistency in relation to learning new skills, where she will support clients to practise specific activities as well as the underlying foundational skills required for this. This is often done creatively with play-based or leisure activities depending on the clients age, both inside and out of the therapy space. Tamsyn is inclusive of everyone, and has a special interest in working with neurodiverse clients.

What made you want to become an Occupational Therapist?

My motivation to become an Occupational Therapist came from the value I see in how meaningful activities and independence impact a person. Occupation fills all of us with a sense of purpose and joy, and this is incredibly valuable in understanding ourselves, connecting with others, and supporting mental health.

What are some of your favourite activities to do in your free time?

In my free time, you’ll often find me playing Nintendo switch, being outdoors, spending time with my sisters, or watching my favourite 3 tv shows on repeat.

Do you have any fun or unique talents?

My unique talent is juggling!

Do you have any pets?

I have a pet bird called Romeo. He is very colourful and cheeky. I will most likely show you a photo of him if we cross paths in OT sessions.
