Hi, I'm Matt!

Allied Health Assistant, Future OT & Qualified Pilot

Matt is a passionate mentor and allied health assistant at Life Skills Hub who loves helping young people realise their potential and work towards their goals. Currently in his fourth and final year of uni studying occupational therapy Matt understands the importance of being client led and the value of an empathetic, respectful listener. Matt has broad interests from loving the outdoors, sports, science and playing with his two dogs. Matt is passionate about helping young people, determined to help them see themselves positively and help develop their self-worth, not letting other people define them.

  • Helping develop social skills and confidence 

  • Sports and fitness  

  • Public transport use 

 

What made you want to become a mentor?

I wanted to help young people work through the challenges brought about by growing up, being bullied myself throughout high school, I see the value in having a safe person to talk through issues with and having a good role model

Can you describe your approach to supporting young people? 

Gentle, respectful and led by the client. I value approaching different circumstances with curiosity and empathy.

What are some of your favourite activities to do in your free time? 

Walk my two dogs, have a coffee and play sports – especially golf!
