Hi, I'm Kelsey!
Mentor
& Barbie Enthusiast
Kelsey has 5 years of experience working alongside children in the Early Childhood Education and Care Sector and a passion for assisting youth in learning and growing through a variety of child led and play based experiences and has found that she often learns alongside them, with the children teaching her in a multitude of ways too! Kelsey's experience in the Early Childhood Education Sector has acquainted her with an array of children and families, each with different areas of focus ranging from childhood trauma to speech difficulties (primarily Selective Mutism), Sensory Processing Disorders, ADHD, and Autism.

Kelsey is loud, loving and a giant kid at heart and you’ll often find her wearing headbands, scrunchies, and any other hair accessories, watching anything Disney related, but most of all is a big Barbie enthusiast and loves all things Barbie! Outside of her role Kelsey is passionate about music (almost exclusively Taylor Swift) and spending time making memories with her little family, going for walks, road trips, beach days, brunch and any other fun family outing!

Kelsey has skills and interest in:
-
Facilitation of client participation in social groups and management of group dynamics
-
Building coping mechanisms for emotional regulation
-
Advancement of fine and gross motor skills, particularly with craft experiences
-
Developing social skills and advancing conversational abilities
-
Enhancement of confidence and self-esteem
-
Fostering a safe environment for children and young people to be authentically themselves

What made you want to become a Mentor?
Transitioning into the Allied Health sector as a Mentor felt like a natural progression following my experience as an Early Childhood Educator. Working closely with early developmental stages, I witnessed the significance of timely interventions for ongoing growth and progress. This realisation fueled my desire to pursue a career where I could extend my positive impact on client wellbeing into young adulthood.

What are some of your favourite activities to do in your free time?
The majority of my week when I’m not at Life Skills Hub looks like Parks, Playgroups and Play cafes with my young daughter living the life I’ve always dreamt of!

What is the most interesting place you have been?
On a television set to film an episode of BTN.

What is your go-to karaoke song?
Anything Taylor Swift but I will put on a full performance for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” in particular!

What is your favourite quote?
“When you’re in a dark place, you sometimes tend to think you’ve been buried. Perhaps you’ve been planted. Bloom.”
