Hi, I'm Hollie!

Mentor

Hollie has a background working with young adults with disabilities. She acquired her Certificate lll in Individual Support in 2018 and has been working in the field ever since. She has experience working in Supported Independent Living Housing and community hubs working with a diverse range of clients before commencing her employment at Life Skills Hub. Hollie is a calm positive person who enjoys trying new activities/hobbies, currently she enjoys reading, nature walks, animals, finding new food places, listening to music and crafts. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with family and pets, eating out and watching YouTube.

What made you want to become a Mentor?

I wanted to stay in a supporting role while also venturing into something new, I thought Mentoring was a great pathway into this. I like that mentoring focusses on creating connections and helping support client's independence.

What is your favourite quote?

" A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies...The man who never reads lives only one" - George R.R Martin

Can you describe your approach to supporting young people?

My approach is to be calm and friendly; this can be by focusing on getting to know the client and finding similar interests or life experiences to create a friendship. I understand that everyone is different and needs different care and approach, so I support them by learning how they like to be supported and being someone they like to be around.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Anything from the 90s-2000s era.
