Hi, I'm Georgia!

Occupational Therapist

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) 2024

Georgia is an accredited occupational therapist, having completed her Honours Degree Bachelor of Occupational Therapy last year in 2024. In addition to her pediatric placements, for over four years, Georgia has coached youth sports teams at a community and school level.

Georgia has the lived experience of supporting the needs and goals of her younger autistic brother. This inspired her to become an Occupational Therapist and drives her passion for supporting the functional independence and social connectedness of young people. Georgia enjoys listening to and learning about a young person's interest. This way she can use her ‘out-of-the-box' thinking to make a session’s activities not only meaningful and engaging but, ensure that they provide the ‘just right’ challenge, so as to enable a young person's growth.

Georgia brings a relaxed and jocular nature to sessions. Here, Georgia uses a young persons' strengths as the foundation, for working towards goals she has designed in collaboration with said young person and their family. At her core, Georgia values creating safe and respectful spaces which empower young people, thus enabling them to be their true authentic self. In line with her coaching background, Georgia has special interests in supporting young people of all ages and diagnoses, to access, equitably engage in and find belonging through organized sports.

Georgia has special interests in:

  • Supporting the acquisition of functional independence and social skills.

  • Enabling young people to access and equitably engage in organized sports.

  • Sensory processing, sensory integration and interoception

What made you want to become an Allied Health Assistant / Mentor / Clinician?

When I was little, my younger brother was diagnosed with autism. Growing up, I had the privilege of supporting his needs and goals. Through these experiences, I was inspired to become an occupational therapist. It ‘fills my bucket’ to know that everyday, I can go to work and support a young person to build their functional independence and social connectedness.

What are some of your favourite activities to do in your free time?

I ‘hands down’ love anything related to Australian rules footy – whether it be watching games, coaching or playing myself. I also like going to the gym, building LEGO models and collecting wrestling action figures.

What is the most interesting place you have been?

In my life I have travelled to seven different countries, these being America, Switzerland, France, Jamaca, Fiji, Italy and England. So, you can say that I’ve been to a lot of places. The most interesting place for me however, would have been the MCG and SCG. I just love learning about the history of sport, especially Australian Rules Footy!

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Thats a tough one! It would be a tossup between Untouched by the Veronica’s and You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift.
